TECH OR WOMEN

TECH OR WOMEN

Not until very recently when more women started gaining recognition in the world and in Africa particularly, in most cultures, the womans place is second. Growing up, my parents made it obvious that they loved me but sometimes I thought my mother pushed me too much when it was time to do some house chores. and when I complained about my brothers not been so hard on, she would say you are going to be married one day and you need to be prepared for your husbands house.

I did not think there was anything wrong with that statement until I grew older and became familiar with the social media and started to see other interpretations of the word woman. My mother frowned at laziness in every meaning and sphere of my life- academics, chores, etc. I always thought of my mother and the scolding I would get each time I was not in the mood to study during my formative years. She simply did not want a half-baked girl-child. She wanted me to be the best in everything including being a wife someday.

A few days back, March 8, the world celebrated women and everything we stand for with the hashtag #daretochallenge the status quo and there is no better time than now to challenge the status quo that only men can get things done including TECH. Women as well as men can do all things Tech and as such we do not have to choose since we can have both and still get 100% results.
